Spurred on by pop singer Gloria Estefan, thousands of demonstrators protested in Miami in support of Cuban dissidents namely, the Las Damas de Bianco or the Ladies in White.
The ladies, dressed in white, are wives and mothers of dissidents and independent journalists who have been imprisoned in Cuba. The women have irritated the government of Cuba with a number of organized marches.
